Do it with me?

Hi guys, thanks for your posts and cover suggestions. New issue is out next wednesday and think you'll be pleased.

So tell me some news? stories?

I made pact with myself this morning to get fit. Ground breaking i know. I'm not doing it because i want to lose weight or anything, just because i'm young and should be fit and healthy. Phil took me for a weekend in the Blue Mountains recently and we went for a bush walk, actually it was more like a cliff walk, because we climbed down the face of a cliff (ok, that sounds dramatic, there were stairs, i wasn't in a harness dangling on a rope or anything). Surprisingly, it wasn't until we got to the bottom that i realised the only way back up was to take the same stairs. I've never come so close to death (ok, dramatic again, but it hurt. A LOT). While Phil practically skipped up the mountain, i could barely breathe, my face was beetroot red and my legs ached so much i almost couldn't feel them. I'm only 28! So, i'm starting exercise. Not full-on gym junkie or anything. Just brisk walks, some squats and maybe a pilates class once or twice a week. I’m so envious of people who LOVE exercise, i want to be that person and apparently once you start, you do become addicted (in a good way, not an ice addict kind of way). I remember about 4 years ago when i was working at Cosmopolitan i wrote a story about being hypnotised to exercise. For a brief moment i was one of those people who LOVED to exercise. I was hypnotised once a week for about 7 weeks and for about 6 months i was an exercising machine. I went 5 days a week to the gym and felt amazing. Then literally i woke up one day and just stopped. It was like the hypnosis juice ran out. Not sure what the point of that story was, just thought i'd share. Anyway, don't try hypnosis, it's expensive and doesn't last. As with most things in life, doing it naturally is the best policy.

So have i inspired you to exercise too? Or at the very least think about it? As i said, it's not about losing weight, it's about feeling young, healthy and powerful. Come on, do it with me, we can push each other...

DOLLY FORMAL

Hi guys,

We had our very first DOLLY FORMAL event last night. It was so fantastic, wish you all could have come. There was about 250 Dolly readers (winners from comps we ran in the mag), The Androids, Amy Pearson, Guy Sebastian  and Dean Geyer performed (i think Guy is my new favourite person in the world, he's so humble and sweet - major crush). what else can i tell you...i was wearing possibly the most painful shoes ever and think i've done permanent foot damage. I thew them in the bin as soon as i got home and i'm wearing slippers at my desk today! The event was at Fox Studios in Sydney as well as all the performances, we had Jason Dundas (was MTV, now on Getaway) DJ'ing all night and Nathan from Video Hits was our host. There were all sorts of other fun things going on, like free manicures, hair and makeup touch-ups, photo booths and we shot a fashion story for the next issue using all the guys and girls in the room. Looks so great! I'll post some more as soon as i get my hands on some.

One big event over and now we gear up for the DOLLY TEEN CHOICE AWARDS on sept 5th - this will be MASSIVE, so get there if you can.

So catch me up on you...what's new?

I do read your posts...

Hi guys,

Ok, i see by reading your posts that a lot of you are angry/annoyed about a few things, so i hope i can clear things up.

Firstly - i DO read this blog AND my myspace AND my emails AND my facebook MYSELF. I know sometimes it can be a while between posts, but that doesn't mean i'm not on all those various sites reading and interacting. I could spend all day replying to emails, posting, and reading comments, but unfortunately i can't because i have a whole magazine to put together and hell of a lot of meetings each day. On an average day i spend about an hour in the morning reading posts on various sites and replying to girls that have emailed me (there are still 1569 emails in my inbox that i haven't read yet, but i'm getting to – do you know how much that stresses me?! I hate that I can’t reply to everyone instantly). If i could spend 6 hours replying to you and chatting with you, i would, honestly. But I will try harder to be here more.

Next...Why subscribers don't get free gifts. Unfortunately i have no good answer for this. It's out of my control and i don't have anything to do with the free gifts, other than helping to chose what the gift actually is. The "suits" have ultimate control of where, why and how many freebies go out each month. But im continuously putting your case forward, trust me, they're sick of hearing me bang on about how "i think it's unfair that subscribers don't get the free gifts". I agree with you, so can you trust me that i'm fighting for it?

What else... Oh the spine. Do you really not like it? I love it, but that's irrelevant. The reason why we changed format was so that we could offer YOU more. The new spine allows us to have the big centrefold pin-ups each issue, which you can’t do with the other spine (it's technical production stuff with the way each version gets printed). Changing the spine also allows us to do more fun things, which i can't tell you about yet, but coming. And it also meant i could add more pages – not ads, just editorial. It was a no-brainer for me - that small tweak to the mag means you guys get so much more value for your money. Does that make sense?

Was there anything else? If there is, leave a post and i'll answer it. I'm sorry guys if you feel angry about these things. It's not my intention to make you feel that way - in fact everything i do, i do to try and please you and make Dolly better for you. But i'm always interested to hear your feedback - good and bad, so keep it coming.

Hope this explains a few things...

I'm 100% in your corner...always.

New issue - You likey?

Hello friends,

So what do you think of the new issue? Do you like the scarf? I'm wearing mine today - the pink and grey one. Oh, and to our subscribers that have been messaging me, sit tight, my marketing team are working it out.

Im currently sitting at my desk looking out the window at the rain tyring to decide who to put on the next cover, i've got about 5 options at the moment. I don't want to tell you who they are because then it ruins the surprise, but i think they're all pretty cool, it's just a matter of picking one. I asked the workies in the office this week, and they're divided. I kind of wish i only had one option so i didn't have to decide! All so pretty.

Hey i forgot to mention in our newsletter when the new issue came out that the new and improved Nivea Young Dolly Club has launched. You should DEFINITELY join - you get great discounts to some wicked stores, plus there's stacks of prizes to be won (i'm talking seriously cool loot). Anyway it's worth checking out, go to www.ninemsn.com.au/dolly

What's planned for the weekend? Mine's going to be fairly chilled, might catch a few movies and just laze.

Have a good one.

Dolly social diary...

Hi girls, how was your long weekend?

How wild and woolly was the weather!! I got home from a weekend in the country with friends and found my outdoor furniture next door! Still, i should be thankful my house wasn't flooded like some of those poor people in Newcastle and Maitland - how horrific. Did you guys have any damage?

On a lighter note, there are a few dates i want you to pop in your diary. We've got so many great DOLLY events coming up and you need to buy the new issue of DOLLY onsale this Wednesday (tomorrow) to score tix. First there's our DOLLY FORMAL on the 5th July. We've got some wicked acts like Dean Geyer, Guy Sebastian, Amy Pearson, Girlband and the Androids performing, plus there are mega prizes to be won and free manicures, makeup and fashion shows.

The next event is the DOLLY TEEN CHOICE AWARDS presented by Target and Maybelline on the 6th sept. If you came or saw pics from last years show, you'll understand why you DEFINITELY need to be there this year.  We're still confirming the bands performing on the night, but let’s just say they're going to be HUGE. Plus you'll get to see all our local Aussie celebs walk the red carpet.

You can win tickets to both events in the new issue onsale this Wednesday 13th June (can you seriously believe we're in June already?!).

Got any stories for me?

Hi guys, sorry for the no-show, it's been a full-on few weeks. How are you??

Remember Sam Clark? The guy who won Dolly's search for Neighbours next big star - Massive spunk. Anyway turns out he's not only a good actor, he's a gun on the guitar. Check out his music!http://www.myspace.com/samjclarkmusic

I'm like a proud mum!

Over to you - what's on your mind?

See you in a week...

Hey guys,

Just so you don't think i'm ignoring you, i'm away next week. We're having a big family holiday at the beach and i can't wait!

Anyway, i'll try and check-in while im away, so keep the comments, questions and feedback coming.

The new issue is out next wednesday (9th May), i think it's one of our best ever! Let me know what YOU think.

Oh and the Dolly Teen Choice Awards are hotting up again, so you need to hit the Dolly website next week to nominate who you think should be in the running to take out a Dolly crown. A big thanks also to our sponsors Target and Maybelline - they're helping to make this years awards even BIGGER than last year...

Have a good weekend chicks.

If you love Pete Wentz...

April 30

what are your thoughts on this video?

Hi guys,

In the last week the media have gone nuts reporting on and speculating about the shocking deaths of Jodi Gater and Stephanie Gestier (the 16yr old Victorian girls who took their own lives, leaving behind a RIP message on their Myspace page).

The incident has raised so much talk about the whole EMO thing, but i realised i haven't heard from YOU about it. Tell me your thoughts, perceptions, encounters, involvement. My ears are completely non-judgemental.

I also stumbled on the video below and would love to hear your thoughts on it  as well as on the EMO topic.

Is cutting really a "fashion" thing?
